We enjoyed a warm
welcome from a very informative Mai. Her knowledge of
Prince Albert
and eating recommendations really enhanced our stay.

We had wanted to stay overnight at Prince Albert so we could enjoy the
amazing Swartberg Pass. The Pass is to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace
given the stunning views and the road surface!
Mai's Guest Lodge is easily found and we were met with a lovely cheery
reception by Mai herself and many of her cats. Off road parking is
available but this is a sleepy town and felt very safe. Mai gave us the
full choice of all her rooms as we had arrived just before her other
bookings for the night. This mini tour revealed a much larger house than
it first looked. All rooms are very large with high ceilings and
charming country house style. One room to the rear gives access to a
garden area and there is a pool for guests too! Electric Blankets; Tea
& Coffee making facilities; thick towels; all the things to aid a
restful stay. Mai offered to book dinner for us at one of her
recommended places in town and we took up this offer and were very
pleased.
Breakfast was made in front of us and we ate with the other guests at
the kitchen table which was lovely as we chatted to everyone and were
soon comparing routes and being given excellent tips on more places to
take in along our route to
Cape Town
.
We relaxed fully at this lovely B & B and wished we had booked at
least another night to enjoy her excellent Celtic charm a little longer.

Hospitality
at its BEST
What a superb
find - Mai and her Guest Lodge are unique and so fabulous! Beautiful
HUGE rooms with gorgeous linen and really interesting and different
decor - loved everything. Bathrooms lovely with excellent shower -
swimming pool fantastic to have as it was hot hot hot!! Highlight was
breakfast in the dappled sunlight under the delicious grapes hanging
from the vine. Fresh herbs picked from the garden to add to yummy food.
Mai is a gem - knowledgeable about the area and she knows EVERYONE and
recommends exactly the right restaurant for dinner to suit your mood. I
can't wait to go back!
